About
I’m Sophie, a dual-qualified nurse and midwife based in Macclesfield. I set up Cheshire Birth Pools to make it easier for families to plan a calm and supported home water birth.
When you hire a pool from me you get more than just the equipment. Every pool is thoroughly cleaned and checked, delivered to your door, and comes with everything you need to set it up. I’ll show you how it works and I’m always at the end of the phone if you have any questions.
My aim is to keep things simple and reassuring so you can focus on welcoming your baby in the comfort of your own home.
Hire Packages
Full-Size Pool (Standard Hire)
Spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room to change position or share the water with a partner. Our most popular option.

Mini Pool (For Smaller Spaces)
Compact but sturdy — ideal if space is limited while still offering all the benefits of a water birth.

TENS Machine
A simple, effective way to ease labour pain. The Elle TENS2 sends gentle pulses to help release endorphins and includes fresh electrode pads and batteries.

Both pools are Birth Pool in a Box professional grade and come fully equipped for your home birth: a floor mat, single-use liner, hose with tap adapters, inflation pump, thermometer, mirror, and submersible pump. Delivery and collection are included across Cheshire and nearby areas, with hire available from 36 weeks until birth. A small mileage charge may apply, as outlined here:

We’ll personally deliver your kit to your home and provide clear instructions for safe and easy set-up.
Collected & sanitised
After your birth, we collect the pool and carry out a full professional clean.
